This article will provide instructions on how to download and install the Cyberduck SFTP program. It will also instruct you on how to configure Cyberduck to connect to MCC's Homedirs server.

Downloading Cyberduck

Cyberduck is one of the two SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) programs for Apple Macintosh computers that one can use to transfer files to your folder on the homedirs web server. It requires Mac OS X version 10.3.9 or later to run. Most of the Macs on MCC's campus will already have this. To double check, just click on the About This Mac on the apple menu.

1. Click on the following link to be taken to a page to download Cyberduck: Cyberduck

2. Click on the Download icon as indicated in the screenshot below.

3a. If you are using Safari, the following windows will come up. On the first window, wait until the download is complete, and the 2nd window will appear. Then click continue.

Note: The following icon below will be on your desktop while the above windows are running. After you click continue, the icon should disappear.

3b. If you are using Mozilla, the following windows will come up. On the first window, make sure Save It to Disk is selected, then Click OK. On the next window click Save.

An icon will now appear on the desktop. Double click on it.

5. Double click on Cyberduck 2.6.1 icon. If you have used Safari, the window will already be open for you.

6. Drag the Cyberduck icon indicated in the screenshot above from the window to either your desktop or your Macintosh HD. Note: Doing this step isn't totally necessary, as you can still run Cyberduck normally, but when you restart or startup your computer, the Cyberduck 2.6.1 icon will be gone. The only way to restore it is by double clicking on the Cyberduck 2.6.1.dmg icon.

7. Double click on the Cyberduck icon and the following screen will appear. Click on Open Connection

8. Click on FTP (File Transfer Protocol) and choose SFTP (SSH Secure File Transfer).

9. In the Server: field, type homedirs.mc.maricopa.edu.

10. In the Username: field, type your MyMCC Username.

11. In the Password: field, type your MyMCC Password.

12. Click Connect

Using Cyberduck

13. Once connected to Cyberduck, it will display all the files and folders (if any) in your folder on Homedirs. To transfer files to your folder, just drap and drop files to the Cyberduck window. I remove any files, click and drag the file(s) off the Cyberduck window and onto your desktop.


Saving your Homedirs settings

If you'd like to add the MCC Homedirs settings to the program so you don't have retype all the settings in follow the next few steps.

14. Click on the Bookmark button

15. A sidebar, as show below will slide out of the main window, either to the right or left, depending on where your Cyberduck window is. Click on the '+' button.

16. On this next window that appears, leave all the settigns as they are already set for you. If you wish you can change the name in the Nickname: field.

17. The Bookmark sidebar will now look as show. Double click the entry and enter in your MyMCC password when Cyberduck prompts and the contents of your Homedirs folder will appear.
