Expired MyMCC Account Purge Aug2008

Starting August 20, 2008, the email server administrators have started a process to purge unused accounts from MCC's servers. Accounts that have been identified as inactive will receive four warning emails before deletion actually happens. For purposes of this process, "inactive" means that the user is not enrolled in classes for Fall 2008.
The first batch of warning emails that went out mistakenly said that the account will be deleted in 21 days. The first notice should have actually said 28 days. Users are notified at 28 days, 21 days, 14 days, and 7 days before deletion.

- Q: I use my MCC email account all the time, so it shouldn't be inactive. Why is my account being deleted?
- A: The account deletion procedure is not based on how active your account is. It has been determined by an automated process that you are not signed up for classes for the Fall 2008 semester.
- Q: I attended classes in Spring 2008 and plan to attend in Fall 2008. Will my account be deleted?
- A: As long as you register for classes before the date that your account is set to be deleted, you will not lose the account.
- Q: I am not going to attend classes in Fall 2008, but I plan to come back for Spring 2009. What happens to my account?
- A: Unfortunately accounts will be deleted if you are not registered for classes by the time the account is scheduled for deletion. You will need to re-create a new MCC account when you return.
- Q: I am attending classes at another college in the Maricopa County Community College District. Can I keep my MCC email account?

- Q: I am looking in to attending classes for Fall 2008, why is my account being deleted?
- A: Both the account deletions and the warning emails are automated processes. The system can't predict whether or not an individual plans to return for more classes. As long as you register for a class before the final deletion date, your account will be preserved and you will stop getting emailed deletion notices.
- Q: I have actually registered for classes for Fall 2008 and I'm still getting deletion notices. What do I do?
- A: If you get a deletion warning after you have registered for classes for Fall 2008, please Contact Us so we can make sure that everything is alright with your account.
- Q: Can you "hold" my account for one more semester?
- A: Unfortunately we cannot, this is an automated process. The only way to guarantee your account is to register for classes for Fall 2008.
- Q: I am an employee, not a student. Why am I getting this message?
- A: If you are an MCC employee and you have gotten this deletion notification, please Contact Us so we can make sure your account is not deleted.
