What is GoogleApps@Maricopa?

The Maricopa Colleges, of which MCC is a part, recently entered into an agreement with Google to provide e-mail accounts and other on-line applications to all students attending the Maricopa colleges. We'll refer to this system as 'GoogleApps@Maricopa'.

When will I be able to log in to GoogleApps@Maricopa?

If you have attended a Maricopa college anytime in the past three (3) years, you can go to http://google.maricopa.edu and log in with your your MEID and password. New students can register for an MEID here. When your MEID registration is complete, you can login to GoogleApps@Maricopa.

Will MCC be using GoogleApps@Maricopa?

Yes, but not initially. In order prepare our IT systems to use the GoogleApps@Maricopa accounts and educate our students on manually migrating their e-mail from the MCC Gmail system to the GoogleApps@Maricopa system, we will wait to start sending e-mail to the GoogleApps@Maricopa accounts to just before the Fall 2009 semester (between August 7th and 21st).

We will begin to automatically forward all new e-mail sent to your MCC Gmail account (username@mesacc.edu) to your GoogleApps@Maricopa account between August 7th and 21st. Please note this means that only new messages will forward to your GoogleApps@Maricopa account. Existing messages will need to be migrated by the user. MCC will not be able to migrate messages for users. MCC Gmail accounts will remain open until Thanksgiving 2009. Users must have their messages moved to their GoogleApps@Maricopa account before that time.

What will my new e-mail address be?

Your new e-mail address will be <YourMEID>@Maricopa.edu.

How do I forward incoming MCC Gmail to GoogleApps@Maricopa?

All MCC Gmail student accounts have been set to forward all messages to their corresponding GoogleApps@Maricopa addresses. You do not need to do anything to ensure that your messages arrive in your meid@maricopa.edu inbox. Please note that forwarding email only sends new messages, not existing messages to your GoogleApps@Maricopa account.

How do I migrate my existing MCC Gmail messages to GoogleApps@Maricopa?

Please click here for instructions. Please note that MCC Gmail accounts will remain open through November 26, 2009. Users must have their messages moved to their GoogleApps@Maricopa account before that time.

Why do I need both a MyMCC account and an MEID/GoogleApps@Maricopa account?

In order to access services specific to MCC, such as the MyMCC portal and MCC's implementation of WebCT/Blackboard, you will need a MyMCC account. In order to log in to My.maricopa.edu to access your grades, register for classes, pay fees, get transcripts, and other student services related things, you will need an MEID. Your MEID will also be used to log in to your student email account through GoogleApps@Maricopa. To learn more about the differences between MyMCC and My.maricopa.edu, please click here.

How do I forward my GoogleApps@Maricopa email to another account that I check regularly?

Please click here for instructions.

As an employee, how does this affect me?

As an employee this will have no effect on your MCC employee email account. So, if your MCC email is smith@mesacc.edu, it will continue to work after the conversion.

However, if you also happen to be a student at MCC, you'll need to be aware that your instructor may send emails to your student email account - which is your meid@maricopa.edu account. Please be sure to either check this account often, or forward it to another account that you check regularly.
