Import Address Book into Zimbra from SeaMonkey

Here are the instructions to import the addresses in your address book into Zimbra from SeaMonkey

  • First, you need to be in the Mail & Newsgroups view. If that view isn't isn't the default view for your SeaMonkey you can get to that view one of two ways:

  • Click Window on the menu bar
  • Click Mail & Newsgroups (As shown in Figure 1.)

  • Click the Mail & Newsgroups icon in the lower left hand corner of the SeaMonkey window (Highlighted in red in Figure 2.)



  • In the Mail & Newsgroups view, the next step is to bring up the Address Book.

  • Click Tools on the menu bar
  • Click Export (As shown in Figure 3.)



  • In the Address Book, the next steps will export the addresses into a file that will be used to import into Zimbra.

  • Click Window on the menu bar, then click Mail & Newgroups (As shown in Figure 4.)
  • The Export Address Book window will come up (As shown in Figure 5.)

  • To find the file easier late, make sure the Save in: field is set to Desktop.
  • In the File name: field, type in address book, or another file name that you can find easily.
  • In the Save as type: field, choose Comma Separated.
  • Click the Save button.



  • Log into Zimbra then follow the next steps to import the addresses from the address book file:

  • Click the Preferences tab (Highlighted in red in Figure 6.)

  • Click the Import/Export tab (Highlighted in red in Figure 7.)

  • Click the Contacts radio button (Highlighted by the red rectangle in Figure 8.)
  • Click the Zimbra Contacts drop down box (Circled in red in Figure 8.)
  • A drop down menu will appear (As shown in Figure 9.)

  • Click Thunderbird Contacts in the drop down menu (Highlighted in red in Figure 9.)
  • The File Upload window will come up (As shown in Figure 10.)

  • In the Look in: drop down box, make sure that Desktop is showing. If it is not, Click on the drop down box and click on Desktop
  • In the files window, click on your address book file (in this case, it is address book)
  • The name of the file will then show up in the File name: field.
  • Click the Open button.

  • Click the Import button (Highlighted in red in Figure 11.)
  • A Choose Address Book window will pop up (As shown in Figure 12.)

  • Click Contacts (Highlighted in red in Figure 12.)
  • Click the OK button.

  • A green Import Succeeded message will briefly appear on your screen if your address book was successfully imported. (As shown in Figure 13.)
  • NOTE: A red Import Failed message will briefly appear on your screen if your address book failed to be imported.

  • To go to your Address Book and see your newly imported addresses, click the Address Book tab (Highlighted in red in Figure 14.)
