Secure Shell Client Installation Instructions

The Secure Shell client is licensed software and only available to college employees. When you click on the link to download the software you will be presented with a login dialog box (See Figure 1 on the right. Depending on what browser you are using, the image on your screen may differ slightly.) Log in with your MyMCC username and password and click the OK button to download the file.

Once the download completes, you will see an icon like the one depicted in Figure 2 on the left. Double-click this icon to begin the installation process.

You should now see a dialog box similar to the image in Figure 3 on the right. Click the Extract button to continue.

Once the extraction completes, you will see a dialog box similar to Figure 4 on the left. Click the OK button to continue.

You should now see two icons that look similar to the ones in Figure 5 on the right. First, double click on the "SSH License.exe" file.

You should now see a window similar to the one shown in Figure 6. Click the Extract button to continue. The program will then place the license file where it needs to be. When it has completed, you will see the dialog box depicted in Figure 7. on the right. Click OK to continue.

Next, double click on the "SSHSecureShellClient-3.2.3.exe" icon (see Figure 8 on the right) to install the actual SSH Client.

A screen like the one in Figure 9 (left) will show up, along with a couple of other windows that will close themselves when they have completed their tasks.

Eventually, a window like the one depicted in Figure 10 will appear. Click the Next button to continue.

You should now see a window like the one shown in Figure 11. This is the license agreement window. You may need to scroll down to read the entire license agreement. When you have read through the license, click the Yes button to agree to the terms and continue the installation.

A window like the one depicted in Figure 12 will appear next. You may use the Browse button to select an installation location, but we recommend you accept the location given and click the Next button to continue.

This window (Figure 13) will allow you to select which "Program Folder" this will appear under in the Windows Start Menu. We recommend you leave it at the default setting and click Next to continue.

The window depicted in Figure 14 allows you to add or remove components of this software. We recommend you leave the default settings and click Next to continue.

Figure 15 displays the next window. This is just an informational screen that allows you to double check that the settings you've selected are the ones you want. Click on the Next button to continue.

As the installer finally begins to put the software on your hard drive, you will see a window like the one shown in Figure 16.. No action is necesary here - just wait until it finishes.

Once the installation has finished, you will see a screen like the one shown in Figure 17. Click the Finish button to complete the installation process.

You should now see two icons like the ones shown in Figure 18. These are the icons you will double click on to use the Secure Shell Client and the Secure File Transfer program. A common use for the Secure Shell Client is to connect to MCC's Vax for SIS access.

You may still have three icons on your desktop (depicted in Figure 19 and Figure 20.) You may delete these files. They are only needed for the inital installation.
