Securely Connect to SIS from Off Campus (Macintosh instructions)

Off-campus Secure SIS Access (Macintosh Instructions)


To access the Student Information System (SIS) securely from an off-campus location:

1. Double-click the Macintosh HD icon on the desktop.

2. Click Applications, Utilities, then double-click Terminal.

3. On the Terminal menu, click File, New Command…

4. Type ssh followed by a space, your actual MCC username, and @homedirs.mc.maricopa.edu Click Run.

5. At the prompt, enter your MCC password and press Return.

6. Once you have logged into the homedirs server, you will be placed at the “bash” prompt.

7. To create a connection to the SIS (MC2) server, type the command sis at the bash prompt. Note: You must use lowercase letters when typing sis. Press Return.

8. Enter your MCC username at the prompt and press Return. Enter your password at the prompt and press Return.

9. Once the connection is established, you will be at the MC2 prompt.

10. Login using your SIS account as usual. When you are done and want to log out, you will need to log out of both systems. Log out of SIS as usual. Then, once the “foreign host” connection is closed…

11. …log out of the homedirs server by typing logout and pressing Return at the bash prompt.

12. The connection will close.

13. Close the Terminal program as you would any Macintosh program.
