Mac Mail E-mail Setup Instructions:

Here are the steps necessary to set up MCC E-mail in Mac Mail.

 Please Note:  these pictures are from Mac OS X (10.5) Leopard

Start Mac Mail


1.1) Click the Mail icon (see Figure 1.1)

Welcome to Mail

1.2) This is the Welcome to Mail screen

  • In the Full Name field type in Your name how you want it to appear when you send out e-mail
  • In the Email Address field type in your MyMCC E-mail Address (your MyMCCusername@mesacc.edu)
  • In the Password field type in your MyMCC Portal/e-mail password then click on Continue

1.3) Next is the Incoming Mail Server window: (see Figure 2)

  • For the Account Type select IMAP
  • In the Account Description box type: MCC E-mail for the MCC e-mail account
  • In the Incoming server box type: zimbra.mesacc.edu
  • In the User Name box type in your MyMCC Portal/e-mail username
  • In the Password box type in your MyMCC Portal/e-mail password then click on Continue
Mac Mail will then attempt to connect to the server. If it is unable to connect just click the Continue button and continue to step 1.3.1)
if it connects skip to step 1.4)


If cannot connect to server

1.3.1) If Mac Mail is not able to connect to the mail server this window may appear. Make sure to check the Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) box and set Authentication to Password

1.4) Next is the Outgoing Server window (See Figure 1.4)

  • For the Description type MCC
  • In the Outgoing Server box type zimbra.mesacc.edu
 Make sure that the Use only this server check box is checked
  • Check the box that says Use Authentication
  • In the User Name box type in your MyMCC Portal/e-mail username
  • In the Password box type in your MyMCC Portal/e-mail password then click on Continue
 Mac Mail will then attempt to connect to the server. If it is unable to connect just click the Continue button and continue to step 1.4.1)
if it connects skip to step 1.5)


If cannot connect to server

1.4.1) If Mac Mail is not able to connect to the mail server this window may appear. Make sure to check the Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) box and set Authentication to Password

Account Summary


1.5) Just make sure that everything is spelled correctly and click on Create

 Make sure that the Take account online check box is checked
